JailBreakers Catering is powered by FreedomWorks, a reentry and recovery program serving individuals who are breaking the cycles of incarceration, homelessness, addiction, and long-term instability. Through residential services, recovery support, life-skills development, mentoring, and structured aftercare programming, FreedomWorks helps men restore what has been broken and build a new future rooted in accountability and purpose.

The heart of JailBreakers’ mission is our On-the-Job Training Program – a workforce development model built on opportunity, accountability, and real work experience. Participants who have completed stabilization begin the program through mentorship and service work, eventually entering internship and formal training. Once completed, participants are eligible for JailBreakers’ On-the-Job training program.

Through this progression, they gain culinary training, daily structure, and the confidence that comes from meaningful work. Participants gain sought-after industrial culinary experience, opening higher level opportunities as they move forward in their career paths. Participants also develop positive habits, discipline, teamwork, and reliability that employers value in every industry.

Participants enter FreedomWorks after facing years – sometimes a lifetime – of barriers that have limited their ability to gain job skills or careers. Histories of incarceration and addiction often create cycles of relapse and reoffending, leaving many men without the work experience, confidence, or support needed to move forward. By the time they reach JailBreakers, they have already done significant work through recovery, life-skills development, service and internship, and personal accountability to earn the opportunity to step into employment.

Under the guidance of experienced leadership, participants work in commercial kitchens serving real clients and fulfilling real contracts. Not only do they build practical culinary skills, but they develop marketable skills and work history – helping them to begin creating a different future.

Our team members have advanced from trainees into trusted staff roles, demonstrating the effectiveness of a model that invests in people and promotes from within.

Our participants leave the program with renewed confidence, and updated resume, solid references, and proven work history – criticial building blocks for lasting independence.

JailBreakers also partners with the community to offer volunteer and service opportunities for our participants, church partners, and other community-based organizations. JailBreakers is not just teaching skills – it develops leaders, mentors, and professionals.

Because JailBreakers is powered by FreedomWorks, participants are supported by more than a job alone. They are surrounded by a community that values recovery, healthy relationships, and long-term transformation. This whole person approach helps them grow not only as employees, but as parents, neighbors, leaders, and community members.

When you partner with JailBreakers, you receive high-quality food and dependable service while supporting a program that delivers measurable impact. Evidence shows recidivism can be decreased by up to 59% when participants receive employment training and services. Every meal purchase helps create jobs, restore confidence, and contributes to strengthening our communities.

JailBreakers was built through the leadership and lived experience of two men who understand firsthand the power of second chances. Their stories are woven into the mission of JailBreakers – creating opportunity, restoring dignity, and proving that real transformation is possible.

Chef Duncan | Culinary Director & Executive Chef

Chef Duncan’s journey reflects everything JailBreakers stands for. After battling addiction, alcoholism, and incarceration, he entered FreedomWorks in search of a new beginning. Through recovery, faith, and hard work, Duncan rebuilt his life and stepped into leadership. Today, he serves as the Culinary Director of JailBreakers, creating and developing life skills curriculum and job training programming, training participants, expanding community partnerships, overseeing kitchen operations, and generally building JailBreakers. More than a chef, Duncan is a mentor whose life demonstrates that restoration is possible and that second chances can lead to extraordinary outcomes.

George Lang | CEO & Visionary

George entered FreedomWorks after experiencing his own life-changing restoration during incarceration. What began as a small reentry program has grown into a multi-program organization serving hundreds of men, women, and families through residential programming, recovery support, life-skills development, mentorship, and workforce opportunities. For two decades, George has served with a deep commitment to the individuals in our program. His vision for JailBreakers was simple but powerful: to create real employment opportunities where men can rebuild their lives through meaningful work, accountability, and purpose.
